Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken Backpeddles On Original Sustainability Plans

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken is changing his mind on his original sustainability plan goals. He held a press conference Wednesday morning and said last year’s goals are no longer realistic. The first draft of the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan was outlined in March of last year, which called for reducing community and local government operations emissions 45-percent by the year 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. TenHaken said Wednesday that a lot of it is “out of our control,” citing federal and state decisions that will impact those numbers in the Sioux Falls area.
