(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Sioux Falls School District’s board is voting for a near-two-million-dollar opt-out to raise additional operation funds. It was voted on Monday to avoid a tax limitation of one-point-nine million for 10 years. The additional funds will come from collecting taxes from property owners in the district. This opt-out is meant to help the school district budget to allow the district to keep up with current programing — and provide risk mitigation when lacking funds from the state and other sources of revenue. It won’t affect property taxes as the district maintains an 11-million-dollar opt-out request for 2024.
