South Dakota Airport Grants Program Set To Begin

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s new public airport grant program is taking flight. About ten-million-dollars in funds have been approved to assist in new projects for terminals of airports that apply. The goal is to improve South Dakota airports in an effort to boost the local economy as applications are now open. It’s really the first time state legislation of this magnitude is moving forward. South Dakota’s Aeronautics Commission will decide how to distribute the ten million. Applications from airports need to be submitted no later than June 10th to the Department of Transportation office in Pierre, and commissioners will look at proposed projects during their next meeting on June 20th. More funding for the program could potentially be approved next year.
