South Dakota Best Counties Rankings

(Pierre, SD) — We’re finding out what South Dakota counties are the best to live in. Stacker put a list together with rankings from Niche that compiles factors like public schools, educational attainment, cost of living, and housing into a top-30 list. Hughes County, home of the capital city Pierre, came in at number one overall. Minnehaha County came in right behind at number two. Lincoln rounded out the top three while Tripp County was last on the list at 30.
