(Pierre, SD) — Families are preparing for their Thanksgiving dinners under a week away, and South Dakota grocers are getting creative to help lower the cost. One deal that County Fair in Mitchell has made available to customers is a free half-pound turkey for every “saver card” filled out during the year. Store Director Chad Lorensen says they are actively looking for all different kinds of deals that are out there to pass on the savings on to the customers. Sunshine Foods in Sioux Falls is remaining open on Thanksgiving to help with business with a 6 a.m. to noon window in case folks forget anything. According to data from the American Farm Bureau, the average cost for a full Thanksgiving feast in the U.S. is just over 61 dollars, down nearly three dollars from last year.
