(Sioux Falls, SD) — Two South Dakota judicial nominees are a step closer to becoming federal district judges. Camela Theeler and Eric Schulte reportedly passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington Thursday and now, they both are heading to the full U.S. Senate for a final confirmation vote. University of Richmond law professor Carl Tobias expects Theeler and Schulte to be confirmed by the Democratic-controlled Senate. The final vote is expected to happen within the next few weeks and once that happens, South Dakota’s U.S. District Court will have full representation for the first time since 2021.
