South Dakota Labor Department To Make Cuts

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation is going to be doing some downsizing. Labor Secretary Marcia Hultman made the announcement last week. The Brookings, Winner and Madison offices will close and several others will see job cuts and reduced hours, effective the second week of February. Republican Senator Tim Reed and CEO of the community’s economic development corporation says he plans to request a meeting with Hultman to discuss the staff and office reductions. The move comes on the heels of Governor Noem’s multi-million-dollar advertising campaign to attract more workers to South Dakota.
