South Dakota Metro Ranks High For Lowest-Paid Teachers

(Rapid City, SD) — South Dakota is high on the list among states with the lowest-paid teachers. The personal finance firm, MoneyGeek, analyzed data and ranked the metro areas that offer the best real income for educators. Rapid City finds its way in the bottom 20 of cities with the lowest adjusted teacher salary — listed at a take-home pay of just under 40-thousand dollars. The projected average national salary for public school teachers for the 2022-23 school year is roughly over 68-thousand, according to the National Education Association.
