South Dakota Native Kalen DeBoer Replaces Nick Saban At Alabama

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota’s very own Kalen DeBoer is taking over as the head coach for Alabama — one of, if not, the most successful and storied programs in college football. Deboer has left Washington to replace the legendary Nick Saban, who is retiring after winning six national championships with the Crimson Tide. The 49-year-old DeBoer was born and raised in the small town of Milbank, just five miles from the Minnesota border. He played college football himself at University of Sioux Falls, setting multiple records before graduating in 1997. DeBoer took over as head coach at his alma mater in 2005 where he led Sioux Falls to three NAIA national championships in just four years. He won NAIA National Coach of the Year there three times before continuing on up the coaching ranks.
