(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is number one in the country for the greatest decrease in overdose deaths. That’s according to a recent CDC report with data from 2022. Overdose deaths in South Dakota were down 18-percent from previous years — dropping from one-hundred-two deaths to 84. Officials say cities can lower their numbers by getting people into treatment centers as quickly as possible.
