South Dakota Prison System Deaths On The Rise

(Pierre, SD) — There have been four inmate deaths within the South Dakota Department of Corrections so far this year. Three of them have happened in the last month. The most recent DOC news releases reveal inmate deaths are not uncommon with one-hundred-78 reported since 1999. Overall, data appears to show the deaths have been rising over time.
