South Dakota Ranked 29th In U.S. For Tipping

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s tipping etiquette is about middle of the pack across the country. New data from Toast, a point-of-sale and management system company, is ranking the Mount Rushmore state 29th out of 50 with an average tip running 19-and-a-half percent. The average tip in the U.S. is actually under the 20-percent bar that most people consider good. According to Toast, tipping at both quick-service restaurants — like coffee shops — and full-service restaurant have stayed steady over the past five years, with QSRs seeing a slight dip.
