(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is being ranked 23rd for worst highways in America. Citing a report from the Reason Foundation, Stacker compiled the ranks of all U.S. states by the condition of their highways, from best to worst. It considers each state’s resources, geographic conditions, size of the highway system, and traffic. The state did lag in certain categories, like having the fourth-most structurally deficient bridges in the nation. South Dakota’s best ranking was for rural state pavement, coming in at number-eight nationwide.
