South Dakota Remembers The Fallen On Memorial Day

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota is honoring veterans and fallen soldiers after several events were held to commemorate Memorial Day. Many gathered on Monday morning at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance as the Sioux Falls Area Veterans Council held a program. Mitchell native and Air Force chaplain Father Andy Young gave the event’s keynote address, speaking about the importance of seeing the day as more than just a time to barbecue and celebrate the approach of summer. The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs honored Memorial Day with a program at the state Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls. It’s the first federally funded, state-owned and operated Veterans Cemetery in South Dakota.
