South Dakotans Discard Thousands Of Pounds Of Prescriptions

(Pierre, SD) — National Drug Takeback Day happened this past weekend, shedding some light on just how much has been taken back from South Dakota over the years. Saturday marked the 26th annual event held by the DEA. The agency is revealing that the state has now discarded close to 40-thousand pounds of prescriptions over that time. It’s been a reliable opportunity for folks to safely dispose of their prescription drugs that are no longer needed. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is a strong supporter, saying, “Unneeded or unused medication can be deadly if it is used by the wrong person or was not prescribed for you.”
