(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is looking good when it comes to the current budget surplus. As part of Tuesday’s 2024 legislative session kickoff, the Bureau of Finance and Management announced the state is sitting at three-hundred-36 million dollars. That’s the highest dollar amount in nine years, according to officials. But Governor Noem’s recommended budget for this fiscal year will spend around a hundred million of those rainy-day funds.
