Storms May Pose Negative Impact To Dry Western SD

(Rapid City, SD) — Rain is a welcomed sight for the dry conditions in Western South Dakota right now, but incoming storms may also pose a serious wildfire threat. Fire crews are worried about lightning strikes potentially sparking blazes on the ground. There are some scattered storms expected to roll through the western part of the state ahead of the weekend. Officials will be monitoring them closely for any that produce lightning. This comes after the Bennett Fire in the Black Hills National Forest was reported as 100-percent contained on Tuesday.
