(Sturgis, SD) — Public voting is underway to bring back a downtown race at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. A letter of intent was signed back in December for the American Flat Track event to be added to the last day this year. But it’s being met with some pushback. One major issue from some people in Sturgis is the use of public money and the need for sponsorships to make the race happen. The event is now being put to a public vote after petitions were circulated. Many voters in Sturgis have already placed their absentee ballots since March 25th, and the voting will continue with the official voting day on April 9th.
