Summer Nights In Rapid City Facing Cancellation

(Rapid City, SD) — The future of Summer Nights in Rapid City is in jeopardy. It’s the city’s weekly concert series that runs every Thursday evening over a 14-week season. Several businesses are making complaints about the community event, primarily over downtown parking. Summer Nights Board President Judd Nielsen says their opposition to the event is confusing because, according to him, around five-thousand people attend each time. He believes that has to bring an overall benefit to downtown businesses. The Rapid City Council has a public meeting planned for next Monday where the community can discuss the future of Summer Nights and whether it will continue.
