(Sioux Falls, SD) — Tablet-based phone calls are in fact to the South Dakota State Penitentiary according to a memo released on Thursday. Inmates will be allowed to start making tablet-based calls again starting today (Friday, April 5th).
In a memo posted on the Department of Corrections website from Director of Prisons Amber Pirraglia, it says in part that “After discussion with the executive team and to promote offender communication with family and loved ones, the number of phone calls per day will be limited to five.”
Pirraglia says new guidelines will be in place which would limit inmates to “three phone calls a day, each no longer than 20 minutes, using either tablets or the wall phones.”
