(Washington, DC) — South Dakota Senator John Thune is looking ahead to November 13th when Senate Republicans select a new leader. Thune is reportedly one of three senators running for the position that’s been held by Mitch McConnell. The Kentucky senator announced earlier this year he’s stepping down from the position of Senate Republican Leader he’s held since 2007. According to Thune, he’s running against Rick Scott of Florida and John Cornyn of Texas. Thune says he believes Republicans will hold the majority in the Senate after Tuesday’s election, meaning he would be Senate Majority Leader if he wins the vote among his fellow Republican senators.
