Thune Suggests Trump Indictment Will Hurt GOP In 2024

(Washington, DC) — A top Republican senator is suggesting the indictment of Donald Trump could hurt Republicans in the 2024 election cycle. While speaking to reporters today, Senate Minority Whip John Thune said Republicans seem to lose when Trump is “the issue.” He said he’d rather have the issue be President Biden and his policies, adding that’s why he endorsed South Carolina Senator Tim Scott for president. While House Republicans have rallied to come to Trump’s defense in the classified documents case, the Senate Republican leadership has mostly stayed quiet.
