Tribal Law Enforcement Training Coming To South Dakota

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is going to offer tribal law enforcement training. Governor Noem and Attorney General Marty Jackley made the announcement yesterday that training will be offered this summer for the state’s nine Native American reservations. Officers have typically been traveling to New Mexico for 13 weeks which takes recruits away from their families. Jackley noted this program is meant to be a partnership between the tribes. Officials are hoping officers sign up by the application deadline of May 1st.
