Tribal Officers Prepare For State Law Enforcement Training

(Pierre, SD) — A group of tribal officers are getting ready to receive state law enforcement training. This collaboration is happening for the first time ever in South Dakota. According to Attorney General Marty Jackley, 13 tribal law enforcement officers from three different tribes have been selected. There will also be 11 local and state officers participating. The course is over 13 weeks from the beginning of June through the end of August at the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Center in Pierre. It’s part of an effort to improve fading relations with the state and its tribes and provide an opportunity for tribal officers to stay close to their families during training.
