(Undated) — South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is being appointed to lead the Department of Homeland Security. President-Elect Donald Trump said in a statement last night that Noem will work closely with border czar Tom Homan and will guarantee that our American Homeland is secure from our adversaries. If Noem is confirmed by the Republican-led Senate, she’d oversee several federal agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Projection, FEMA and the Secret Service. The 52-year-old Noem was on Trump’s shortlist of potential vice-presidential running mates. As governor, she sent South Dakota National Guard troops to the southern border at least five times, calling it a war zone.
