(Parker, SD) — The historic Turner County Courthouse in Parker is coming down after standing for more than 120 years. The building is a landmark for the town’s Main Street but has also faced many aging challenges, from flooding to mold in both floors. It was deemed unsafe by structural engineers near the end of 2023. Over the course of last year, the courthouse officially closed, and offices were relocated. A new Turner County Courthouse will now be built in its place. Officials are expecting the project will be completed in 18 months.
