U.S. Postal Service To Downgrade South Dakota Mail Operations

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The U.S. Postal Service is planning to downgrade the downtown Sioux Falls post office by shifting non-local mail operations to a facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Under USPS’ finalized plan, “mail and packages destined for outside the immediate Sioux Falls area would be routed to Omaha and gathered with mail and packages from other areas going to the same places.” This is all apart of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s 40-billion dollar “Delivering for America” investment strategy. Sioux Falls isn’t the only city being affected, the post office in Huron will also be downgraded to a local processing center and all non-local processing will go to Fargo, North Dakota.
