Vans Expand South Dakota’s Delivery Of Health Services

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Health is expanding their services by using vans to visit people in remote rural and frontier areas. Department officials say two vans will be stationed at Rapid City, two at Pierre and one at Sisseton. The Wellness on Wheels Program will have vans go to local communities to deliver services such as “WIC, pregnancy care, immunizations, oral health, safe sleep, maternal screening, developmental screening and sexually transmitted infection testing.” Officials say more services could be added in the months and years ahead.
