Watertown Man Facing Charges For Yankton Officer-Involved Shooting

(Yankton, SD) — A Watertown man is facing multiple charges in connection to an officer-involved shooting in Yankton earlier this month. According to South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, Andrew Jondahl has been indicted on four charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer which each carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Jondahl reportedly approached officers holding two shotguns in the parking lot of Yankton High School. He was shot four times by police — all non-life threatening — and taken to the hospital where he’s still recovering. A South Dakota DCI investigation has since determined that two Yankton Police Officers were justified in shooting Jondahl who “demonstrated a clear and present danger to law enforcement and the public.”
