(Woonsocket, SD) — Crews are fighting a large wildfire that broke out Thursday near Woonsocket. A witness tells KELOLAND the fire had closed Highway 34 between the town and the junction with Highway 37. Much of South Dakota is under extreme fire danger because of the dry grasslands, strong winds and low humidity.
