Wildfires In Canada Having An Impact In South Dakota

(Pierre, SD) — Some in northeastern South Dakota may step out of the house and notice smoke in the air. It’s coming from fires in Canada. There are active north of Edmonton in Alberta. The smoke impacted most of the South Dakota area, with the exception of the southeast. Thick smoke moves into western South Dakota by late this morning and into the afternoon. People may see more air quality alerts as the smoke becomes thicker in the area.
