(Pine Ridge, SD) — Fire season is off to an early start in South Dakota. Firefighters in the western part of the state have been busy working to contain a grassfire on the Pine Ridge reservation between Manderson and Wounded Knee. Officials say the Wounded Knee Fire is now over 30-percent controlled. Crews have been in the area since late Friday night, battling high winds but getting some help from rain. The fire has taken over 550 acres so far, but there are no reports of any damage to structures or injuries.
