WWI Veteran’s Son Accepts Posthumous Medals

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A World War One veteran is being honored with posthumous medals, including a Purple Heart, from South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds. The late Harry Greenstein had three medals recovered by his son, Joel, who accepted them on his father’s behalf at a ceremony in Sioux Falls yesterday. Harry Greenstein was injured by artillery and mustard gas while fighting on the front lines in France before being honorably discharged in 1919. It took over three and a half years for Joel to recover the lost medals with help from Senator Rounds’ office.
