Zebra Mussel Infestation Discovered

(Brown Co., SD) — Sand Lake National Refuge in Brown County is infested with zebra mussels. The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks says the discovery was made through a snorkel survey. Since James River is connected, it’s also considered to be infected. The GFP is monitoring the situation. High-profile signs are posted near infested waters, and there are watercraft inspection stations nearby.
