(Santa Clara, CA) — The 49ers are planning to be without star running back Christian McCaffrey this weekend. San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said that McCaffrey won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams as he deals with a mild strain of his right calf. McCaffrey was injured in the third quarter of last weekend’s win over the Washington Commanders and didn’t return to the game. The 27-year-old running back leads the NFL with 1,459 yards and has also rushed for 14 touchdowns.
