Chicago NASCAR Street Race Finishes Despite Rain Delay

(Chicago, IL) — Some NASCAR fans are content after finally getting a chance to witness a race despite heavy rains at Chicago’s Grant Park. The city’s first-ever Chicago Street Race yesterday was nearly washed out. After attempting to start early and beat the storms, NASCAR was forced to push back the start of the race to 5:30 p.m.

New Zealand’s Shane van Gisbergen won last night’s Grant Park 220 in his Cup Series debut. The driver of the number-91 car led the field on a restart to capture the victory in overtime. Justin Haley, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five finishers. Last weekend’s Ally 400 winner Ross Chastain finished 22nd. The racers head to Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend for the Quaker State 400.
