(New Orleans, LA) — Attorneys representing former NFL star and Southern Miss quarterback Brett Favre, have asked a federal appeals court to reinstate a defamation lawsuit against a former ESPN commentator. This comes after a lower court judge in Mississippi threw out a lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe, writing that comments he made on a sports broadcast, were protected under the Constitution’s right to free speech. Sharpe accused Favre of theft in an ongoing investigation into the misuse of millions of dollars in connection with a child welfare agency scandal.
