(Brooklyn, NY) — The Minnesota Lynx were on the wrong end of a controversial call during a 67-62 overtime loss to the New York Liberty in Game Five of the WNBA Finals.
The Lynx led by two with five seconds left in regulation when New York’s Breanna Stewart drew a foul. Replay clearly showed that Stewart travelled before the foul and initiated contact, but Minnesota’s challenge was unsuccessful, and Stewart sunk two free throws to send the game to OT. Minnesota managed just two points in the extra period. Napheesa Collier scored 22 points in the losing effort, while Kayla McBride finished with 21. The Lynx lost the best-of-five series 3-2 and now head into the offseason.
