(Undated) — Several marquee matchups between ranked teams in college football took place on Saturday. Number-4 Ohio State stormed into South Bend and edged ninth-ranked Notre Dame 17-14. Elsewhere, Number-11 Oregon put Deion Sanders and 19th-ranked Colorado in their place following a 42-6 home victory. Meanwhile, Number-7 Penn State defended home field against 22nd-ranked Iowa after a 31-0 win while Number-10 Utah edged 25th-ranked UCLA 14-7 in Salt Lake City. One upset took place over the weekend. Number-24 Washington State knocked off 15th-ranked Oregon State 38-35 in Pullman.
There has been a minor shakeup in the top five of the latest college football coaches poll. Georgia and Michigan are still ranked first and second in the nation. Ohio State is up one spot from four to three, Florida State is down one spot from three to four, and Texas is up one spot from sixth to fifth. USC, Penn State, Washington, Oregon and Utah round out the remainder of the top 10.
Oregon State dropped six spots from 15 to 21st. Missouri, Florida, Kansas and Kansas State are ranked 22nd through 25th after not being included in last week’s poll.
