NCAA Proposes Rule To Let Schools Pay Athletes

(Undated) — The NCAA is looking for ways to let their Division One schools pay their athletes. NCAA president Charlie Baker proposed rule changes on Tuesday that would allow D1 schools to enter into name, image and likeness deals directly with their athletes. The proposed rules would also create a new subdivision of Division One schools that would be allowed to create its own set of rules for recruiting, transfers, roster size and a wide range of other policies. The policy would change the NCAA’s business model that prevented schools from providing any non-academic based compensation to athletes.
