Nevada Governor Signs A’s Stadium Bill

(Las Vegas, NV) — Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo is putting the final touches on a bill to help the Oakland Athletics build a 1.5-billion dollar stadium on the Las Vegas Strip. Lombardo signed the bill, which includes 380-million dollars in public funding for the project, on Thursday. Lombardo said “Las Vegas’ position as a global sports destination is only growing” with the potential addition of the A’s. The next step for the team is approval from MLB owners, which is expected to come with a vote on the relocation plan. The new stadium will be constructed on the site of the current Tropicana Las Vegas and will open for the 2028 season.
