(Detroit, MI) — The first night of the 2024 NFL Draft had its fair share of offensive players fly off the board. A record 23 offensive players were taken in the first round. The Chicago Bears kicked off the night by selecting USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. The Washington Commanders followed that by taking LSU signal caller Jayden Daniels. The New England Patriots made it three straight quarterbacks taken to start the draft after selecting North Carolina’s Drake Maye. The Atlanta Falcons pulled off the biggest surprise of the night after drafting Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick. The Minnesota Vikings traded with the New York Jets to draft Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy with the 10th pick. Bo Nix became the sixth quarterback taken in the first round after the Denver Broncos selected him with the 12th pick.
