(Edmonton, AB) — The Oilers are Western Conference champions. Edmonton defeated the Dallas Stars 2-1 in Game Six of the conference final at Rogers Place. Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman scored power play goals in the first period and the Oilers held on to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006. Stuart Skinner finished with 34 saves in net. The Oilers will face the Eastern Conference champion Florida Panthers in Game One on Saturday. Mason Marchment lit the lamp for Dallas in the third period of the losing effort. The Stars have now lost in the conference finals in back-to-back seasons.
