Report: Cubs Land NPB SP Imanaga

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs are finally making a splash in free agency. ESPN and the MLB Network are reporting that the team has agreed to a deal with left-handed starting pitcher Shota Imanaga from Japan. The report adds that the club will pay Imanaga around 15-million dollars a year for multiple seasons. The deal must be formalized before Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. The 30-year-old has been with the Yokohama BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball since 2016. Imanaga was 7-and-4 with a 2.80 ERA and 174 strikeouts in 148 NPB innings last season.
