(Undated) — A former Timberwolves point guard is stepping away from the NBA for good. Ricky Rubio announced his retirement yesterday. The point guard stepped away from the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to the FIBA World Cup over the summer due to mental health issues. ESPN reports the Cavs and Rubio have agreed to a contract buyout, which covers 12.5-million-dollars over this and next season. The Spain native was selected by the Timberwolves fifth overall in the 2009 draft. He averaged 10.8 points and 7.4 assists per game over his 12-year career.
