Stanford, Cal Additions To ACC Hit Roadblocks

(Undated) — The addition of Cal and Stanford to the Atlantic Coast Conference is hitting “significant” roadblocks. That’s according to ESPN, which reports ACC presidents met Wednesday night and will continue to “wrestle” with the best way to position the league in the future. Notre Dame was pushing for the addition of both universities as it has a long history with Stanford. However, the Cardinal and Golden Bears wouldn’t add significant financial value to the ACC, which is staring at a looming revenue gap with the SEC and Big Ten that could reach 30-million-dollars annually. SMU was thought to be an alternative to join the conference, but those conversations aren’t headed anywhere, either.
