Twins Take On Tampa Bay; Get Win in Opener

(St. Petersburg, FL) — The Minnesota Twins opened up their series against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 5-4 win from Tropicana Field.

Trevor Larnach hit a three-run home run in the top of the second to give Minnesota an early 4-2 lead, and Brooks Lee added a solo shot in the top of the eighth to give the Twins a necessary insurance run. Jorge Alcala earned his fourth win in relief, while Jhoan Duran picked up his 21st save.

Minnesota has won three of four. The Twins currently sit in second place in the AL Central with a 75-and-62 record. Minnesota is three-and-a-half games behind first-place Cleveland, and the Twins also have a firm hold on the second AL Wild Card spot. David Festa takes the mound for the Twins this evening against Tampa Bay. First pitch is at 5:50PM.
