United Advance In US Open Cup

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota United will be one of the final 16 teams in the US Open Cup. The Loons drew Philadelphia 3-3 in the Round of 32 at Allianz Field, but they won 7-6 on penalty kicks. Joseph Rosales and Bongokuhle Hlongwane each scored in the second half to give Minnesota a 2-nil lead before Philadelphia stormed back to tie the match in extra time. Hlongwane scored again in overtime, but Philadelphia tied it up once again before the United won the shootout. The Loons return to MLS play with a match against Sporting KC on Saturday.
