Vikings Add Three Defensive Players and QB Sam Darnold

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are bolstering their defense. The Purple added edge rushers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel along with linebacker Blake Cashman in free agency yesterday. Greenard is coming off a 12-and-a-half sack season in Houston, and his deal is worth 76-million dollars over four years, while Van Ginkel had six sacks and an interception with Miami in 2023 and inked a two-year, 20-million dollar contract.

Cashman is a former Minnesota Gophers linebacker, and he signed a three-year deal worth 25.5 million dollars. The Vikings also re-signed back-up offensive linemen David Quessenberry and Blake Brandel yesterday.

Also, reports early on Tuesday are that the Vikings have signed former first round pick Sam Darnold to a one year deal worth up to $10 million. Darnold is expected to compete for the starting job after Kirk Cousins signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday.
