Montana Challenges Bison Management Plan

(Helena, MT) — Montana is challenging the Yellowstone National Park’s Bison Management Plan. Governor Greg Gianforte and two other state agencies filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration this week, arguing the plan violates several federal laws. In a statement, Gianforte said the National Park Service hasn’t engaged with Montana’s leaders and has ignored the state’s concerns about the plan. His side argued the park has also disregarded an agreement from 2000 to vaccinate the animals and keep herds below three-thousand. The Livestock and Fish, Wildlife, and Parks departments are also part of the lawsuit.
